Repatriated Bag

The bag repatriated to the Nez Perce in 2002 was in Oberlin's Ethnographic Collection for over a century before Professor Emerita Linda Grimm unearthed it. Often, items like this one were obtained from tribes under questionable circumstances by missionaries like Spalding and Allen, who didn't always care about the autheniticity of the treasures they brought back, or the permission of the creators of those objects.
